The Co-operative Group Sustainability Report 2006 is now available online at http://www.ethicalperformance.net/co-operative_sustainability.html
The Report is the first to combine the award-winning sustainability reporting of Co-operative Financial Services with that of the Group's trading businesses to provide a full account of the business' co-operative, social and environmental impacts in 2006 and early 2007. Data and commentary in the Report have been assured by csrnetwork in accordance with the AA1000 Assurance Standard.
For the first time, the Group provides much more detailed disclosure on the inherently responsive nature of the co-operative business model and the democratic influence exerted by the Group's elected members; for example, how members pushed the business to rethink its position on cash machine charges and prompted action on the stocking of certain magazines and newspapers.
There is a new section on ethical finance, which ensures that CFS' strong reporting in this area continues in the new consolidated Report; new sections on chemicals and social exclusion; and more in-depth reporting on biodiversity - particularly in relation to Co-operative Farms.
The Report shows that overall the Group has completed or made substantial progress towards 32 of the 48 targets set last year.
The Group seeks to ensure that its reporting continues to be responsive to the needs of stakeholders, and as such, your feedback is requested. If you would like to comment on our approach, our performance, or how the Report is presented, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Hard copies of the Report can also be requested from this address.
